One Week With Color Lite Glasses - A Full Review

Full Disclosure: I am not being paid by Color Lite to write this review, I was not asked by them to write this review, I was not given my glasses for free, I paid for my glasses. Everything you are about to read is my opinion and my experience with these glasses.

Okay everyone, I know a few of you have been waiting for me to write this up, and believe me, I wanted to do this earlier, but I thought it was important to really wear them for a while, so I can a real in-depth review.

The Back Story: I found out I was color blind, maybe five years ago when my new optometrist performed the Ishihara Test on me for the first time. I failed the test, was basically told there was nothing I can do about it, and I moved on with my life. I knew (or at least thought) I could see color "good enough" and never cared. I never even thought of it until a few months ago when it came up in conversation while sitting with my parents & wife for dinner. I decided to do the Enchorma test online in front of them, so they can see what I saw, and did not see. They were shocked. They could not believe the amount of things I got wrong or could not see at all, and they could see perfectly fine. So I decided to look into Enchroma glasses, I thought they were a gimmick, and I did not want to spend so much money without trying them on. I found a place about 45 mins away from me that was an authorized seller of Enchroma lenses. We drove over there and were told we can try them on for a half hour. I tried on the Cx3's and we walked around town and were throughly impressed. We made an appointment with their optometrist for the following week and to look more in-depth into them. At this point here, I still have not heard anything about Color Lite.

The Appointment That Changed My Life: So I go to the appointment and I brought my wife and my mother with me, because they wanted to see everything. I wear regular glasses, so I had my appointment with their optometrist. We go through the standard procedure, and then meet with their technician to go through the different Enchroma's. They showed us the Cx3's (which I tried on once before), the Cx2's and the Cx1's. I was impressed with the Cx3's the most, but I was told that I really only get the full effect outside, and that they would not be as affective indoors. The Cx2's would give me some effect inside, and some outside, but not the full effect of the Cx3's, and the Cx1's would only give me an effect inside, not outside. We were not totally pleased, since it seemed like in order to fix this problem of mine, I would need to get two glasses. Thats when their technician told us about Color Lite. He told me about Color Lite's back story and how they were just introduced into the USA, and how they are more tailored to you, and how you would only need one set of glasses. To do the test would take about an hour, and would cost $40. My wife and mother thought it would be a good idea to at least take the test, and we'll see what happens. So thats what we did. The Guy brings out the book & lenses. First he gives me the Ishihara Test, I got four out of twenty correct. Then we go through the Color Lite test which includes seeing a circle with a hole somewhere on it, and me having to point out where the hole is. First with my regular vision, and then with different Color Lite lenses on, the lenses were changed and altered until I was able to get into the end of the book. Once I was able to get to the end of the book with the correct Color Lite lenses, I was then given the Ishihara Test test again (the same book) and I got 20/20 correct! Needless to say, we were all impressed and we decided this was the way to go. We placed the order for the lenses, and I bought a pair of Bose Alto frames, that have bluetooth speakers built into the frames that connect to my phone. I came a few days later to drop off the frames, and they told me they would see me in a month, or at least we thought.

A Week And A Half Later: I get a call from the shop saying that my lenses have arrived and my glasses were ready for pick up. We were ecstatic, excited and hopped in the car and drove straight there. We were impressed with the quick turn around time!

The Try On: We get in, and sit down, they call us over and present the glasses to me. Im excited, Im nervous, but I know my life is about to change. I put on the glasses, and although I see a minor red/pinkish tint, I can already see different colors around the store. They tell me to go outside and the red tint immediately goes away. I cannot believe what I was looking at. Everything looked wildly different and much more clear than I have ever seen before. We walked around town for a bit. Red's are much different than what I had see before. Seeing an American flag for the first time with these glasses was truly special. Looking at flowers and seeing pinks and purples pop so much was crazy. The sky was so blue. Colors never looked so rich before. I go back inside the store and thank the staff there for helping me out and spending so much time with me.

A Special Shoutout to the team over at H.C. Deuchler Opticians & Eyecare for introducing me to Color Lite. If you decide to go there, ask for Austin, the guy really knows his stuff and truly spent a lot of time with us!

My Life Wearing These Glasses: Everything has looked very different for me since wearing these glasses. I have learned that I tend to confuse Lime Green & Yellow, and Red & Orange. Colors are more more rich and I feel like since wearing these glasses, I can truly appreciate nature, and everything around me. The other night I got see my first sunset and it was mind blowing. I also had no clue that the sky can turn pink/purple and how clouds can turn orange. I feel like Im seeing the world for the first time. The sky no longer looks like a greenish/blueish color. Colors no longer look washed out. I see things in a totally different light. I truly recommend that if you have a Color Lite distributor near you, to please at least give the test a try and check them out. I personally believe this is the future and I am excited to see Color Lite expand across the USA and the world.

I am more than happy to answer all questions in the comments down below and I hope you enjoyed reading this review!
