I've had Colorlite for a few month, and it makes it all more colourful. They also allow me to pass most Ishiharas while I fail most of those without the glasses. Red is far brighter, and since having the glasses I repeatedly remind myself that orange cars are rare, those are all red in reality. :-) Blue gets some more depth to it, making it beautiful.

Conclusion first: both are great, Colorlite does more good to me. In case you only read this far. :-)

Disclaimer second: this is about how I saw it, with my (mild (?) protan) eyes, and the glasses for that. Experiences will probably vary with eyes and glasses for different types of CVD.

And another disclaimer: I'm not affiliated with any of these companies, and weren't paid or provided glasses by them. But I'm interested and looked up a few basics about how principles behind their glasses differ (they do, quite a bit).

I've had Colorlite for a few month, and it makes it all more colourful, all colours except some shades of green are nicer in them. They also allow me to pass most Ishiharas while I fail most of those without the glasses. Red is far brighter, and since having the glasses I repeatedly remind myself that orange cars are rare, those are all red in reality. :-) Blue gets some more depth to it, making it beautiful. Some rare shades of green are made worse, they almost appear grey, while other greens are fine.

So today I went to try Enchroma (for mild protanomaly). The effect was less dramatic, the glasses appeared more natural than Colorlite. As opposed to Colorlite, Enchroma did not distort any of the green shades, which was positive. Red became nicer, more pronounced, but not bright as in Colorlite. So brake lights did not pop up stronger as opposed to in Colorlite. No effect seem to have happened on blue at all. Enchroma also did make the word nicer and more colourful but less so than Colorlite does. The exception again is certain greens which is a bit harmed by my variant of Colorlite but not by Enchroma. I looked at a few Ishiharas on the phone and haven't noticed any help by Enchroma with seeing them (they do emphasise that it's not their aim so this is OK).

If I had to pick I would choose Colorlite again for being a bit nicer, for popping up red as a bright colour, and for helping me with Ishiharas. This said, experiences might differ and both are great products. Also, the simple fact that I've had Colorlite for months while only tried Enchroma for half an hour might be biasing me.

If you are in the UK and want to try Enchroma I strongly recommend visiting EYES on St Albans as I did, Jez is super helpful and very knowledgeable. If you want to try Colorlite unfortunately you have to travel outside the UK at the time I'm writing this: Colorlite is present in four continents including the US and many countries of Europe, but not in the UK. If you are a UK optometrist reading this: Colorlite is looking for partners in the UK, please get in touch with them.
